1. Where the property is.
Start with the city or ZIP code. Compton Land Services is based in Baldwin, in the Jacksonville area. Confirm service availability for your location before planning a visit. Share any entrance directions directly with the business when needed.
2. What you want to change.
Describe the outcome in everyday language. “I want this trail accessible again” is more useful than a vague request for land work. If there are separate tasks, list them individually so mowing, moving material, or preparing ground can be discussed as distinct parts of the scope.
3. The approximate work area.
Give an approximate area or dimensions if you have them. Explain whether you mean the whole property or just one part. If you are unsure, say so. A rough description is a starting point for discussion, not a substitute for confirming the scope.
4. Current photos and access details.
A few recent photos help show what is there. Include the work area and, where practical, the entrance. Mention gates, narrow routes, tight turns, slopes, soft ground, visible obstacles, and things that should stay untouched. Do not enter an unsafe area just to get a photo.
5. Timing and material questions.
Say when you would like the work done and whether that timing is flexible. For gravel or dirt work, explain whether material is already on site. Ask separately about material sourcing, delivery, handling, cleanup, and the intended finish instead of assuming these are all included.
Then agree on the actual scope.
Ask what is included in the estimate, what is excluded, what the finished result means, and what may need a separate discussion. Availability, equipment fit, price, and scheduling should come from the business after reviewing your project.
Compton Land Services advertises bush hog work, tractor work, food plots, tilling, gravel spreading, dirt leveling, and dirt moving. Describe your property and let the conversation establish which of those services fits.
